This is a really fun stage. The first half is pretty much flat with one or two bobbly bits, before the road kicks uphill, first at ten miles, than again, much more sternly at fourteen miles. You crest the summit at sixteen miles and that’s followed by a lovely flowing five mile descent. Although the last three miles are slightly uphill, the feeling is that this is much easier than the last few stages.
In terms of the geography of this rural stage, you pass the junction to Navola and Lake Pesno after just a mile, That’s followed almost immediately by the road to Solomkino. Savostino is next up at three miles, adjacent to Lake Derbovezh. At six miles you pass Lake Kachevitskoye before immediately passing by the village of Kachevitsy to the north and Novo-Ivanovskoe to the south. Those junctions are followed by additional ones to Velesa at ten miles, Dubrovo at fourteen miles and Podberez’e at twenty one miles.
The finish is three miles past Podberez’e on the edge of a forest to the south of the M9.
