This is a stage that begins by meandering along the eastern river bank of Yanco Creek before straightening out at halfway to run directly towards Narrandera, which will be on the schedule for stage 398. It’s a stage which is almost flat for twelve miles, albeit that it climbs ever so gently so probably offers a gradient of a fraction of percent during most of that time, before a much steeper climb kicks in at thirteen miles, after which the remainder of the stage is much more lumpy.
The rollout swings left around Yanco Creek before a right/left combo follows and it takes the Newell Highway to the junction of Yamma Road at three miles. Even though the road is climbing, it manages to cross Columbo Creek at seven miles before passing through Morundah immediately afterwards. There’s then a final right/left combo of curves before the A39 arrives at the long straight the runs eleven miles to the finish.
The proper climb starts just before twelve miles and the road reaches the first summit at fifteen miles, having gained just over a hundred feet. The road then dips down before climbing back up to enter Gillenbah State Forest at eighteen miles. The end of the stage is a mile the other side of the forest after a testing climb sets up the exit from the trees.
