Although you could be forgiven for thinking that the first half of stage 338 has a couple of testing little climbs in it, the payload is really reserved for the second half of the stage: it’s predominantly uphill the whole way!
The rollout is from the junction of the Euria Well dirt road heading north from the Eyre Highway near to Cundilippy. The road climbs for two miles to Somerset then descends again before climbing once more to Middlepark at five miles. As the highway drops back down, more dirt roads head north and south at nine miles before the descent bottoms out on a left hander approaching Penong at ten miles.
The road then heads east, passing by Hillview at fifteen miles as the lumpiness of the second half climb begins to bite. The junction of Kowulka passes at sixteen miles before a left/right combo re-establishes the easterly trajectory of the route. The road continues to climb as it bends right then left before a final one mile straight completes the stage on the approach to Windy Ridge.
