Stage 293 – Hassell National Park to Pallinup Nature Reserve

This is the flattest stage since arriving in Australia. Hogging the coastline about ten miles inland, heading north east alongside the Basil Nature Reserve to the south, the stage is at worst lumpy and at best offering a very fast descent to the finish.

The rollout from Jakkawilla runs straight and downhill for a mile and a half, passing by Kulyallin, before hanging a left at the top of the first climb, just past Canberra West. That’s followed by a short down and up before a lumpy flat section passes by the communities of Beulah, Grasfeld and Yorklands en route to Wellstead at sixteen miles. There, a short descent is followed by a much steeper, albeit short incline and the South Coast Highway passes through the town. That sets off a gentle but lumpy descent from miles seventeen to twenty four which then morphs into a very steep descent at Killara for the final run in to the line alongside the edge of the Pallinup Nature Reserve.
