After the arduous climbing of the last two stages, here’s some respite in the form of a stage that finishes over three hundred feet lower than it starts: that’s the good news: the bad news is that despite all of that fun stuff, it still climbs over four hundred and fifty feet. So basically, there’s a lot happening in stage 184 and it’s likely to be a fast, testing stage.
The map profile is north easterly towards Mariinsk and the first half of the stage is forested. That’s the downhill half after you’ve conquered the two mile climb off the start. That climb tops out at Nikolayevka on a left right combo in the first wooded section of the stage.
The road then runs alongside the meandering Muryuk diver for eight miles to Usmanka. That kicks off a four mile up/down that takes you out of the forest a couple of miles short of Verkh-Chebula at fourteen miles. From that point on, the journey is lumpy, although you do have the benefit of a two mile descent down to the finish line just before the intersection where the highway forks left/right just before Mariinsk.
Despite running alongside water for much of the stage, the road never actually crosses a river, which has probably saved you a few hundred feet more of climbing.
