This stage is as lumpy as they get. Flat roads? There are none. Climbs and descents? I counted about twenty five while I was prepping the preview. The route is south easterly which takes the journey ever closer to Kazakhstan, but it never actually goes there. It’s a stage splattered with bits of forest: I counted five in the prep phase. And it’s remote: there are only a three or four towns, all grouped around the eighteen mile mark, if you want virtual supplies on the road.
The rollout is steep and uphill: sixty feet of climbing in the first half a mile. Then there’s a lumpy descent to a minor road junction back to Golyshmanovo Derevnya following the path of the Yemets river. That takes you into a right hander on a lumpy incline into the second forest. The road exits that on a lumpy flat section to Nikol’skiy at fourteen miles where the road begins a long right hand descent before a sharp climb kicks in.
At eighteen miles, where the E22/P402 passes by Krutyye Ozerki, the road takes a long left hander before straightening up for the lumpy flat four mile arcing left left hander to the finish. While the road looks straight on the map, it actually takes a gentle left hand bend before dropping down sharply to the line with half a mile to go.
