Stage 146 – Slobodskaya to Krupinina

This is another of those stages where the geography almost matches the elevation profile. But the thing that sets it apart is the predominantly uphill first half before the second half heads down and south east: and another other thing that jumps out at you is the lack of any flat road.

The first two miles are slightly downhill before a right hand bend lines you up for a rapid descent to the Chirok river adjacent to Ust-Lamenka. The river comes at the start of a very long left hander that climbs before dropping back down into the first forested section. That sets up a lumpy five mile climb to the junction to Lamenskiy in the south: that’s followed immediately by a junction to Borovlyanka in the north.

Miles fourteen to fifteen and a half are uphill but that merely sets up the long lumpy descent to the finish: Leaving aside an uptick at twenty one miles, it’s basically a ten mile descent. There’s also a crossover junction at eighteen miles that serves Aromashevskoye in the north and Golyshmanovo in the south.

The finish, which comes on a long right hand bend, comes after junctions to Golyshmanovo Derevnya and Gladilovo. It’s another stage with lower than average climbing, but that just means it’s going to be a fast one.
