This is another of those stages where the geographical profile loosely matches the elevation profile. When I say that the the overall direction is east/south east, that means only one thing: a gently downhill course, and so it proves in reality. It’s one of those stages that has bits of forest, bits of cycling alongside the edge of forests, and of course visiting one or two water courses.
The rollout is immediately downhill, to the Gryaznushka river midway between Krasnyy Mayak Poselok and Gryaznovskoye. That inevitably means a climb straight after but it’s not long before you’re descending back down to cross the Beleyka river at six miles.
The next climb takes you into the forest for a couple of miles before a lumpy long straight takes the highway past Kunarskoye, Tygish and Bykova before the E22 arrives in Bogdanovich at thirteen miles. There’s a right, left, right wiggle through the town before another long lumpy section delivers you to Nadezhda at seventeen miles where a left hander lines you up for the seven mile finishing straight.
The first four miles of the straight descend down to the junction to Chernokorovskoye a mile to the south, then as you begin the final three miles, the road rises about forty feet over a couple of miles – nothing too severe – before descending sharply to the finish line: indeed that last half mile to the line is likely to be a bit frantic.
